Description

This is a mid-18th century house, later partly converted into offices. It is located in Cobham, Elmbridge. The house is constructed of red brick with a stone-coped parapet and plain tiled, hipped roofs. At each end are projecting wings, and a central wooden cupola with a ribbed lead dome. The house has two storeys and five bays, with the end bays projecting. It features glazing bar sash windows, originally with gauged heads. The window on the first floor to the left is now blocked. Although the ground floor windows are 20th-century replacements containing stained glass, a similar style of glass has been added to the central first-floor window. A glazed door, panelled with a blind arched fanlight in a deep reveal, sits at the centre, surrounded by Doric half-columns, a triglyph frieze, and an apron pediment. A keystone sits above the door, and a glazed porch with brick dado walls and a glazed roof with a Doric colonnade extends from the street. 19th-century extensions are present on the right-hand side. The left-hand return front is semi-circular, featuring a polygonal bay window to the rear and a conservatory extension. The rear elevation has a slate roof, a blocked gable lunette, and a square bay window under a pentice roof.
