Description
The orangery, now used as a store, dates from the mid-18th century and is located 15 yards east of No. 7 (Garden Reach Cottage) in Esher. It is built of red brick and features a tiled roof that is obscured by a parapet. The structure is single storey and has a brick course at the eaves, which is dentilled. There are five bays of tall glazing bar sash windows with arched heads, each set under projecting moulded flat boxes. Below the central window is a moulded panel, and there are double panelled doors on the right-hand return front. At the rear, there is a catslide roof covered with pantiles. This orangery is associated with the remodelling of Esher Place in the 1730s by the architect William Kent.
