Description

HOLWELL SP20NW Barn, Stables and 3/260 attached pump about 45m S.S.E. of Manor Farmhouse.

Barn and stables. Probably early C18. Limestone rubble with ashlar dressings; stone-slate roofs. 5-bay barn has a central porch and opposed double doors. Stable range has a central doorway with a loft door over flanked by segmental-arched windows; right gable contains a 2-light stone- mullioned window with straight label mould and has a crude stone finial. Rear outshut links to barn on left. C19 cast-iron pump stands against rear wall of stable. Part of an attractive farm complex with Manor Farmhouse (q.v.) and the implement shed (q.v.). Included for group value.
