Description
14 Witney Street is a house that now operates as an inn. The front of the building dates from around 1800, although it is said to have a medieval core. It is constructed from coursed and dressed ashlar-type rubble, topped with a Cotswold stone roof. There are two chimneys, one made of rubble on the left and one of brick on the right. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring two gabled dormers and a simple overlapped cornice at the parapet. On the first floor, there are two paired glazing-bar sash windows with wooden lintels, while the ground floor has flat arches above the windows. An off-centre right flat arch doorway leads into the building, with a cellar entry located off-centre to the left. The external details, such as the overlapped cornice and paired windows, are typical of the first half of the 18th century in this area.
