Description
Alice's Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later additions and alterations mainly from the late 20th century. It is constructed of regularly coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The building has a two-unit plan with 20th-century extensions added to the left, right, and rear. It stands two storeys high with an attic, and has two 20th-century casement windows with wood lintels on the first floor and three on the ground floor, along with two gabled dormers at the top of the roof slope. There are integral axial end stacks on both the left and right, which appear to have been rebuilt in the late 20th century.
The interior was not inspected during the resurvey in May 1987, but it is reported to have chamfered spine beams, an inglenook fireplace in the left room, and a crane next to a ledged door leading to a winder staircase that goes from the first floor to the attic. The roof structure features butt-purlins. The 20th-century additions are not considered to have special architectural interest.
