Description
Beaconsfield Farmhouse consists of a shelter shed and a cottage range, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with marlstone-ashlar dressings and features a corrugated-asbestos roof. It has an L-shaped plan, with the south range comprising nine bays, including a wider bay that was once a throughway but is now infilled with weatherboarding and rubble between posts. The east range has five open-fronted bays, and the gables are topped with stone parapets. Attached to the end of the south range, against the barn, is a single-storey cottage with a three-light stone-mullioned window and a label, along with a stone stack built against the barn's gable wall. The interiors have not been inspected. Beaconsfield Farm is located on the site of a Roman villa and is included for its group value.
