Description
This sundial, dating from the 17th or early 18th century, is located approximately 40 meters southwest of Weald Manor in Bampton. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a cylindrical pedestal topped with a four-sided gabled finial. The south side of the finial displays the sundial, while the east side includes a small niche with a carved stone head. The sundial serves as the centerpiece of a formal garden, the main outlines of which are indicated on the Ordnance Survey map from 1876 and the estate map from 1789, held at the Oxfordshire County Record Office.
