Description

Thatched Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled thatched roof and brick end stacks, rebuilt in the 20th century on the left. The house has a 2-unit plan, and is two storeys high with a 2-window front. It has timber lintels over a 20th-century door and late 19th or 20th-century casement windows. The right-hand room contains winder stairs adjoining an open fireplace with a bread oven. The left-hand room has stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, a bressumer over an open fireplace, and ribbed doors adjoining winder stairs. The roof is of butt-purlin construction.
