Description
The Laurels is a house dating from the early 19th century, with some minor later additions and alterations. It is constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof with integral end stacks. The building has two storeys and a three-window front, with glazing bar sashes set in plain stone surrounds. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door topped by a semi-circular fanlight, which is sheltered by a 20th-century Tuscan porch. At the rear, there is a two-storey lean-to on the right side.
Inside, the central hall contains a dog-leg staircase with stick balusters and turned newels. The left ground-floor room has a plain pilastered stone surround to the fireplace, while the right room features a wooden imitation of the same design. The floors are made of stone flags. A 20th-century two-storey flat-roofed addition at the rear is not considered to have special architectural interest. The building is included in the register for its group value.
