Description
The dovecote at Rectory Farm, located approximately 20 meters north-northwest of the farmhouse, dates from the 16th to early 17th century. It features weatherboard cladding over a timber frame, set on a limestone rubble plinth, and has a half-hipped stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high with two bays of framing. There is a through-entry on the left side, and a 20th-century plank door with old strap hinges to the right. Dove-holes are present at the storey level, and the first floor jetties out at the rear. A glover, or decorative feature, surmounts the roof. Inside, the ground-floor end walls have two tiers of tension bracing, and there are wooden nesting boxes on the first floor, supported by a queen-post truss.
