Description

This doorway, located in the wall to the southeast of the Manor House in Ascott-under-Wychwood, is a gateway dating from the mid-19th century that incorporates a fragment from the 12th century. It is constructed from ashlar and is built into a garden wall that extends from the southeast end of the Manor House to the south. The doorway features a moulded open pediment typical of the local style, with a late 12th-century floral capital set into the tympanum.
