Description
This is a former mill coach house, likely dating from the mid-19th century, situated on the north side of Witney Street in Burford and Upton. It has been converted into a house. The building is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a Cotswold stone roof, and it follows a U-shaped plan, including a pent roof link and a further wing to the right. Two projecting gables feature coped verges and finials; the left-hand gable has an oculus window, with a segmental-headed window below. The gable contains a loft door. The right-hand gable has two part-blocked arches above a loft door. A mounting block is located beside the left-hand arch. A pent-roofed lobby sits between the gables, with a stable door in the left-hand section and an under-built lobby to the right-hand section. Double doors lead to an extension on the right. Even the former horse boxes were incorporated into the sensitive conversion of the building.
