Description
Squirrel Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from roughly coursed limestone and marlstone rubble, topped with a straw thatch roof. The building has one storey and an attic.
The cottage features early 20th-century casements with wood lintels, including four eyebrow eaves dormers and four windows on the ground floor, with two on the left and two on the right of a roughly central 20th-century boarded door that is sheltered by a conical thatched hood. There is a 20th-century metal French window located between the two left windows. An integral end stack is positioned on the left side.
Attached to the right is a single-storey range that has two narrow casements and a glazed door to the right. Above a circular bowl inserted into the wall, there is a carving of a squirrel, which is of indeterminate but likely relatively recent date.
