Description
Downs House is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century, with extensions from the 18th century and various alterations and modernizations. It is constructed of coursed rubble and features a Cotswold stone roof. The building has a mix of window styles, including irregular 1:1:2:1 mullion windows, with the left-hand range being shorter than the right-hand range, except for two 20th-century mullion windows located above a 20th-century gabled porch. There are also rubble windows in the style of the 18th century, and a blocked window to the right of the far left window. Inside, the staircase has been moved, but some late 17th-century splat-balusters have been reused for the current attic landing. The house is noted for its group value.
