Description
Beaconsfield Farmhouse granary range is located approximately 40 meters to the west of the farmhouse. This structure likely dates from the 18th century and consists of granaries and open sheds. It is built from limestone rubble with marlstone-ashlar dressings and features some weatherboarding. The roofs are made of Stonesfield slate, Welsh slate, and corrugated iron. The building has an L-shaped plan, with a 4-bay granary to the east that stands on five circular piers, which have bases and caps. The outer piers are bonded to the end walls. The upper floor of the granary is weatherboarded, and there is an ashlar stair against the southern gable wall, which has a dog kennel beneath it. Extending westward from the north end is a 3-bay cartshed with a stone-slated roof, supported by wooden posts that hold up the weatherboarded front of a loft or granary. There is also a single-storey, open-fronted 4-bay shed that continues this range, featuring round stone piers with bases and caps, topped with a corrugated-iron roof. Inside, the rear wall of the eastern range has three semicircular stone responds. Beaconsfield Farm is situated on the site of a Roman villa.
