Description
This barn, located approximately 55 metres east-south-east of Manor Farmhouse, has pre-Romanesque origins and likely dates back to the 15th century. It is constructed of coursed stone rubble and features a stone slate roof. The barn has seven bays and includes a hipped stone midstrey positioned to the right of centre, which has double plank doors. There is also a plank door on the left return of the midstrey and opposing doors at the rear. Additionally, there are 20th-century sliding doors to the left of centre and opposing doors at the rear. The rear of the barn displays pre-Romanesque buttresses on the left and medieval buttresses on the right, along with ventilation holes in the walls. Inside, the barn has coupled-collar roof trusses. Historically, this barn is part of the manorial farm that is adjacent to the Manor House, which was owned by the Lovell family from the 12th century until 1465.
