Description

The Manor Guest House is a former farmhouse, dating from the late 18th to early 19th century, and significantly refurbished in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone with a stone slate roof and rubble stone chimneys. The building has a double-depth plan, two storeys and an attic, and originally comprised three bays. The front has 20th-century wooden cross casement windows to the outer bays, with a narrower 20th-century window with a top light to the first floor of the centre bay. All windows are set within flat stone arches, each with a triple keyblock. The eaves line features three gabled dormers, each with a 20th-century two-light wooden casement. The centre bay has a 6-panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, a flat stone arch and a keyblock, and a 20th-century gabled wooden hood supported on brackets. The rear windows, all 20th-century, also have similar arches. A 20th-century extension projects to the rear centre. The interior is said to contain a large original fireplace in the front room. The house was formerly the farmhouse for Rock Farm, which was established after the Enclosure Act of 1770.
