Description
This is a garden wall located approximately 15 metres east of Weald Manor, dating from around 1740. The wall features six piers, including end piers, central gatepiers, and two intermediate piers, along with a pair of gates. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and stands about 2 metres high, topped with flat stone coping. The end and intermediate piers are made of dressed stone with ashlar caps, with the south end pier rising directly from the wall. The intermediate piers are positioned at the corners of the house. The central gatepiers are made of rusticated ashlar and feature moulded capitals, ball finials, and side pilasters with carved scroll tops. The contemporary wooden gates are panelled and slope down towards the centre, secured with long strap hinges that have fleur-de-lys ends.
