Description
The lychgate, located approximately 15 meters south of the tower of the Church of St. Kenelm, was built in 1856 by G. E. Street. It features timber-framing and limestone ashlar, topped with a Stonesfield-slate roof, and is designed in the Gothic style. The structure has low stone side walls and an open arcaded timber upper stage that supports two arch-braced collar trusses and a steep-pitched roof. The wooden posts and bressumers are chamfered and carved with four-petalled flowers, while the collars are adorned with crenellations. The arched braces and bressumers include inscriptions, one of which commemorates members of the Marshall family. This lychgate is included for its group value.
