Description

This headstone, located approximately 4 meters south of the chancel of the Church of St. Andrew in Great Rollright, dates from around 1624. It is made of marl stone and features a small design with a triangular head. The front of the headstone includes an inscription commemorating "MARGARET THE W/IFE OF (?)", while the rear is inscribed with "1624/HARCH THE". Some of the inscription is now below ground level, making it an unusually early example of an inscribed headstone.
