Description
This is a barn located approximately 20 meters southeast of Kelmscott Manor, dating from the late 17th century with some minor later alterations. The structure is built of uncoursed limestone rubble and features alternating angle quoins. It has a stone slate roof with moulded coped verges and is designed in an L-plan.
On the farmyard side, there are wide double doors to the left, accompanied by a narrow rectangular air vent to the left and two more to the right. To the right, in the angle, are paired plank doors leading to a narrow projecting gabled range. This range includes a rectangular window with a dripstone on the first floor to the left side and a narrow rectangular air vent at the apex. The gable ends also have narrow rectangular round-headed air vents.
On the roadside, there is an opposing entrance with wide double doors on the right and an infilled doorway with a wooden lintel, along with a rectangular window with a dripstone to the far left. Inside, to the left of the paired doorways, there is a semi-winder stone staircase leading to a former left in the right bay. This area is separated from the rest of the barn by a full-height stone wall that has an air vent at the apex. The main part of the barn features a triple-purlin collar and tie beam roof supported by four bays, with raking struts extending from the tie beams to the principal rafters. There are remains of 20th-century pigsties attached to the right gable end, but these are not of special architectural interest.
