Description

City Farmhouse, dating from around 1800, is a farmhouse built when the surrounding open fields were enclosed. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a gabled stone slate roof and end stacks finished in dressed stone and brick. The building has a central-staircase plan and is arranged over two storeys and an attic, with a symmetrical three-window front. A round arch frames the 18th-century six-panelled front door, which has a bracketed semi-circular hood above. Late 19th-century three-light casement windows are set within flat stone lintels. Three dormers with moulded cornices contain 19th-century two-light windows with glazing bars. A mid-19th century extension extends to the left and a 20th-century extension is at the rear. The interior was noted as being refitted in the 19th century and has not been inspected. The face of the farmhouse looks away from the foldyard barns and outbuildings located at the rear.
