Description
This cottage, located in Asthall Leigh, likely dates from the late 17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century, including an addition to the rear. The original structure is built of uncoursed rubble stone and features a stone slate roof with a stone end stack on the left side. It is two stories high with a two-window range. The central entrance has a plank door with a wooden lintel above it. To the right of the door is a three-light stone mullion window, while the first floor has a three-light 20th-century casement window on the left and a two-light 20th-century casement window on the right, both with wooden lintels.
The addition to the right of the original cottage is likely from the early 18th century and is also constructed of uncoursed rubble stone with a stone slate roof, but it features a brick end stack on the right. This section is a single storey with an attic and has a two-bay range. It includes a plank door on the left and a three-light casement window on the right, along with a gabled dormer in the center that has a two-light 20th-century casement window. The interior has not been inspected.
