Description
Bruern Grange is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations. It is constructed from roughly coursed limestone rubble and has a stone slate roof. The building features a long main range with a twin-gabled section at right angles to the rear on the left, forming an L-shape. It has two storeys and an attic.
On the first floor, there are six leaded wooden cross casement windows from the early 20th century, with wood lintels positioned directly below the eaves, four of which are closely spaced in the center. The ground floor has five similar windows, with three to the left and two to the right of a roughly central early 20th-century six-panel door. The roof slope includes four gabled dormers with similar casements, three of which are from the early 20th century and one from the late 20th century.
The farmhouse has integral ashlar end stacks and three ridge stacks that are symmetrically arranged, all featuring dripstones and moulded capping. The interior was not accessible during the resurvey in August 1987, but it is said to have undergone significant alterations while likely retaining some interesting features.
