Description
Nos. 4 and 5 Market Place is a house that has been converted into two shops. It likely dates from the 17th century but was given a new front in the 19th century. The building is constructed of painted 19th-century brick and has an old tiled roof with a brick chimney stack. It has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The ground floor features a 20th-century shop front. On the first floor, there is a segmental arch over a blocked central window, with a late 19th-century horned sash window to the left and a late 19th-century canted bay window with sashes to the right. The roof has two gabled dormers and a gabled design with a stack at the left end. Inside, the building has been remodelled, but part of the 17th-century collar-truss roof remains.
