Description

Abbey Timbers is a house dating from the early 15th century, with alterations in later periods. The house has a brick plinth and large timber framing, incorporating tension braces and rendered infill sections, with an old plain-tile roof and brick ridge stacks positioned in the centre and to the right. The main range is two storeys and four bays, set at a right angle to the road. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre, protected by a 20th-century open porch. The window openings are irregular, featuring 20th-century leaded-light casements. A cross-gable is present to the right, with weatherboarding. The left return side, facing the road, shows a jettied first floor. The interior of the cross-wing to the right is characterized by massive cruck trusses.
