Description
The Church of All Saints features gateways and attached walls located approximately 15 meters northwest of the porch. The gateway, which was formerly a postern of Cumnor Place, dates from the late 16th century and is constructed of limestone. It has a two-centred arch with trefoiled spandrels, a casement-moulded architrave, and a Roman inscription on the frieze of a brattished entablature. An early 19th-century wall of dressed limestone extends about 10 meters to the left and connects to a rubble wall at a right angle, which runs approximately 13 meters to another gateway dated A.D. 1570. This second gateway also features a two-centred arch, a moulded architrave, and a cornice. The doorways were relocated to Wytham from Cumnor Place, which was demolished in 1811.
