Description

The Old Pound is a house dating from the early 18th century, likely built upon an earlier structure. It is constructed with a base of coursed squared stone, the main walls are red brick with grey brick dressings, and the roof is of old plain tiles, with some 20th-century plain-tile replacement. A brick stack is located to the rear, another to the left of the centre, and a substantial brick lateral stack with a stone rubble base sits to the left. The building is two storeys high and has a four-window front. A six-panel door is positioned to the right of the centre, sheltered by a flat hood constructed of wood-panelled strips. Ground-floor windows are two-light casements with segmental brick arches. A flat grey brick band runs between the ground and first floors. First-floor windows are also two-light casements. The interior remains uninspected.
