Description
The Crown and Thistle Hotel is a building dating from around 1605, with an 18th-century front elevation that follows the curve of the road. The left section of the hotel is rendered and consists of three storeys, which is taller than the right section. It features a parapet and a moulded modillion cornice. The front has a window arrangement of two, one, and two flush frames, with double hung sashes that include glazing bars. There is a frieze and cornice above the first-floor windows. The ground floor is cut back and roughly rendered, with a rendered plinth. Four brick piers support the upper floors.
The right section is constructed of brick and has a parapet with a dentil cornice. It also has three storeys and a band between the storeys, with three windows on the front elevation that curve to fit the site, featuring double hung sashes with glazing bars, some of which have been replaced. The ground floor is roughly rendered, with a rendered plinth.
The Crown and Thistle Hotel, along with Roysse's Court and Nos. 26 to 32 (even), forms a cohesive group.
