Description

Lamp post located in East Lockinge, dating from the late 19th century. It features a cast-iron fluted shaft with ladder supports and a light cage. The installation of paraffin lamps during this period was financed by profits from the "Boars Head" Public House in Ardington, as noted in M.A. Havinden's study of the Berkshire villages of Ardington and Lockinge.
