ASHBURY SU28SE 8/2 Ashdown House, Pavilion approx 10/11/52 20 metres north-east (Formerly Listed as Ashdown House, GV pavilion, and outbuildings attached) I

Pavilion, one of a pair to Ashdown House (q.v.). c.1662. Imitation stone render limestone dressings and quoins; stone slate roof; limestone stacks. Original 5x1 bay plan form much altered and not apparent. 1 1/2 storey, 5-window range. Front facing Ashdown House: central 6-panelled late C19 door has limestone eared architrave, semi-circular arch with raised key and decorative fanlight; 4-light wood-mullioned and transomed casements with C20 plate glass and limestone eared architraves: 4 gabled dormers with moulded cornice and C20 casements. Rear elevation: similar windows to 5-window range; 5 similar, with raised central 3 dormers. South gable end has blind door with limestone eared architrave, pulvinated frieze and moulded cornice. Moulded plinth, raised and chamfered quoins, dentilled wood cornice; hipped roof surmounted by bell cupola; end stacks with moulded caps. Interior: gutted by fire and converted into housekeeper's accommodation in mid C20.
