Description
No. 3 Stert Street is a building with probable origins in the 16th century that has been refenestrated. The structure is roughly rendered, with brick infilling on the ground floor that supports timber framing. It stands three storeys high and features two gables facing the road, a tiled roof, and carved barge-boards, along with one chimney stack.
The building has two windows, one in each gable, which are flush framed with cornices and feature sliding sashes with glazing bars. On the first floor, there are three light double hung sashes with glazing bars that are set beneath a tiled pedimented hood, supported by a wooden cill on two carved brackets. The upper two storeys overhang above a wooden cornice.
On the ground floor, to the left, there is a three light casement window with glazing bars, a wooden frame, and cill. To the right, there is an early 19th-century flush frame double hung sash window with glazing bars and a wooden cill. The central entrance is a plain wooden door set back under a wooden architrave. At the time of the survey, brickwork was being removed and complete restoration was in progress.
