Description
Lester Cottage and Lester House are cottages dating back to the 17th century, with remodelling in the mid-19th century. The original structure is timber-framed. An exposed braced tie-beam and post of the original timber frame is visible in the right gable wall, while the front wall is of rubble with a painted finish. The roof is thatched, and brick stacks are present. The original layout isn’t clear. The building presents as a one-storey structure with an attic, featuring a four-window front. A four-panelled door is set in a heavy wooden frame. There are three late-19th century, three-light casement windows, and one mid-19th century canted bay window with 20 panes of glass. Late-19th century dormers house four-light casements. The roof is half-hipped and hipped, with an end stack and a central ridge stack featuring recessed panels. The interior has not been inspected. A two-storey wing from the early 19th century extends to the rear right. This wing is constructed of brick with dentilled eaves and an old tiled roof.
