Description
Mallards Cottage and The Old Post Office is a house that has been divided into two homes, dating from the early 17th century. The front is roughcast over square timber framing, with diagonal braces visible on the right gable and rear. It features a thatched roof and brick stacks, following a three-unit lobby-entry plan, although the door is covered over. The building is two stories high with a three-window range of 20th-century casements. There is a 20th-century door to the left for Mallards Cottage, while The Old Post Office is accessed through a 20th-century extension on the right. The roof is both hipped and gabled, with ridge and end stacks. Inside, The Old Post Office has chamfered and stopped beams, along with an open fireplace in the right room. The stairs were originally next to the stack and opposite the entry. The roof features queen posts with clasped purlins and windbraces. The interior of Mallards Cottage has not been inspected.
