Description
41-43 Packhorse Lane is a pair of dwellings built in the late 17th century, with an extension added to the right in the early to mid-18th century. The buildings are constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble, featuring brick quoins and dressings on the right side. They have a gabled roof covered with old tiles and include a brick stack on the left end, along with rendered ridge stacks. The structure has a four-unit plan and is one storey high with an attic, presenting a four-window range.
The left side (No. 41) has a central 20th-century door and 20th-century windows, all with timber lintels. To the right, there are two 20th-century doors and a 20th-century window, each with segmental brick arches above, as well as a timber lintel over another 20th-century window. The building features three gabled dormers, with the middle dormer containing a 19th-century two-light casement window. Inside, there are chamfered and ogee-stopped beams on the left side, along with old purlins and a tie on the right side.
