Description
The shelter shed with granary over, dating from the 18th century, is located in Great Coxwell. It is constructed of red brick with some blue headers in Flemish bond and features a stone slate roof. The building is one storey high with a loft and consists of four by two bays. It has an open front supported by jowelled wall posts that stand on chamfered padstones, with a double board door located in the right bay. The roof is half-hipped. On the right side, there are brick and stone steps leading up to a board loft door, which is accompanied by side-lights and a pent porch. The left return features a 20th-century three-light window in the gable.
Inside, there are large scantling chamfered cross-beams with run-out stops, supported by wall posts at the front and a similar line of posts across the center. The right-hand bay is divided off by a weatherboard partition, while the left-hand wall contains mortices, likely from former manger-holding beams, and this bay is partly separated by slatted partitioning. There is also a loft trap-door in bay three.
