Description

Danes Cottage is a late 17th-century house located within the grounds of Danes Court, Great Coxwell. The house is constructed of rubblestone with a concrete tile roof and brick stacks. It is two storeys high with an attic, and comprises two wide bays. The windows are predominantly small-pane, set beneath timber lintels, with three lights to the ground floor and two lights above. There are also two small, single-light windows at the right end, one positioned between the floors and the other below the eaves, along with two gabled dormers. The end stacks have moulded strings and a cornice to the right-hand stack. The entrance is now located at the rear of the property. Although the interior was not inspected, reports indicate the presence of a large fireplace and old beams in the right-hand room. The building is included on the list for its group value within the wider context of Danes Court.
