Description
The Plough Public House is a public house dating from the mid-17th century, with a late 17th-century wing on the left. The building is roughcast with flush rendered quoins, likely built on a timber frame, and features an old plain-tile roof. It has a brick ridge stack on the left and a 20th-century end stack on the right. The structure is two stories tall with a two-bay range and a cross-wing to the right that includes two stories and an attic.
On the ground floor, there are 20th-century three-light wood mullion and transom windows, except for a two-light wood mullion and transom window on the left. The first floor has a three-light wood mullion window on the left and a four-light wood mullion window on the right, both with a cornice. There is also a two-light wood mullion window with a cornice in the gable of the cross-wing.
The right side of the building features two stories and an attic with a three-window range and irregular fenestration of wood mullion and transom windows. The late 17th-century addition to the left is made of painted brick, with some small timber-framing on the left and painted brick infill. It has an old plain-tile roof and a brick ridge stack to the right of center. This addition is a single story with an attic and a four-window range, including sash doors on the left and right, two three-light casements with segmental brick heads in the center, and a gabled dormer on the right. The interior has not been inspected.
