Description
Orchard Stables House and the attached barn are located on Orchard Lane in East Hendred. The farmhouse, which is now a house, likely dates from the early 17th century. It features a rendered plinth and roughcast, probably built on timber-framing, with a 20th-century plain-tile roof that is hipped to the left and a brick ridge stack at the center. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The windows are 20th-century casements arranged in an irregular pattern. There is a 20th-century flat-roofed full dormer in the center and a door on the right side. The left side shows small timber-framing with brick infill. The interior has not been inspected.
Attached to the house is a long barn that is oriented at right angles to the rear of the house, also likely from the 17th century. This barn is constructed with timber-framing and weatherboarding, topped with an old plain-tile roof, and consists of approximately seven bays with irregular fenestration. The interior of the barn has not been inspected.
