Goosey House Farmhouse And Walls

This is a mid-18th century farmhouse, built on an L-shaped plan. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick with flared headers, and has a stone slate roof and brick stacks. The front facade is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. A flat hood with a panelled soffit sits above the central six-panelled door, which has an overlight. Gauged brick flat arches feature over the central first-floor sash window and the flanking paired sash windows. The building has storey and parapet bands, and a parapet with stone coping. Hipped roof dormers, each with a two-light leaded casement, are visible. The gabled roof has stone coping, and a brick gable end stack. The rear of the house, to the left, is two storeys and two windows, constructed of similar materials. A single-storey, one-bay dairy and cheese room is also situated to the rear left, with a hipped, slate-hung dormer.

Inside, the farmhouse features six-panelled doors and a dog-leg staircase with a landing; the balusters are stick style, with ramped banisters leading to the newels. Mid-18th century fireplaces are found to the right of the house. A bread oven is located to the rear left. The roof is a common-rafter design. The dairy and cheese room has quarter-turn stairs and a two-bay roof with bent inner principals to an open collar truss.

A wall of random bond brick, with stone coping, runs along the front of the property. It features four square piers, with central piers flanking the gate, and continues approximately 20 metres to the right. A similar wall, with ramped stone coping, is present to the rear right.
