Description

Yew Tree House is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, with an attached barn. The building features a graffito dated 1791 on the brick to the left of the door. The front is constructed of Flemish bond brick with flared headers, while the left side is brick and the right side is made of uncoursed limestone rubble. It has an old tile roof and brick stacks. The house has a two-unit plan with a rear left outshut and stands two storeys tall with a two-window range. There are segmental arches over a 20th-century door and flanking late 19th to early 20th-century three- and five-light casements, along with late 18th-century three-light casements on the first floor. The eaves are dentilled, and the roof is gabled with stacks at the gable ends.

To the rear, there is a narrow mid-19th-century two-storey block of red brick that partially covers the original outshut. This block features red brick walls with limestone quoins and an old tile gabled roof. There is also a similar mid-19th-century one-bay wing at right angles, which has an original two-light casement to the right. Inside, there are 19th-century plank doors and panelled shutters, along with a plain beam and wood bressumer over the fireplace to the right.

The property includes a two-bay hay barn and cowhouse to the right, which features original timber framing over mid-19th-century and late 18th-century brick on the right side, with late 18th-century brick at the rear. The barn has a half-hipped old tile roof, and its interior boasts a two-bay collar-truss roof.
