Description
The Cottage is a house that was originally a cottage, dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It features an irregular timber frame made of small scantling with diagonal braces and brick infill. The walls are made of chalk, which has been whitewashed on the left bay and the right gable. The building has a thatched roof with brick stacks. It is 1 and a half stories tall and has a range of five windows, which are 20th-century casements, along with a door. The roof is gabled with stacks at both ends and along the ridge. Inside, the beams are disfigured and the roof trusses are obscured. There is a 20th-century weatherboarded single-storey extension on the left side and a mid-19th century brick lean-to with a plank door at the rear right.
