Description

Little Farmhouse is a 16th-century farmhouse that was remodelled in the early 19th century. The farmhouse exhibits a mix of construction techniques and materials. The left wing is built of uncoursed chalk rubble, while the right wing’s original timber frame is clad in early 19th-century Flemish bond brick. A section of the original cruck roof is exposed in the right gable wall. The building originally had square timber framing with wattle and daub infill. It has a thatched roof and brick stacks. The layout is L-shaped, and the main façade has a 1½-storey, 3-window arrangement. A 20th-century tiled porch leads to an early 19th-century six-panelled door (with four glazed panes) adjoining the left wing. The windows are 20th-century 3-light casements. The roof is gabled with a half-hipped section, and there is a projecting end stack to the right and a ridge stack at the junction of the wings. The interior was not inspected. A 20th-century lean-to addition is present at the rear.
