Description
Rose Cottage is a pair of semi-detached cottages dated 1733. The front is made of chequered brick with uncoursed limestone rubble, topped by a gabled old tile roof and flared red brick end stacks. The cottages have a two-unit plan and are two storeys high, featuring a four-window range. A stone pediment hood with finely carved acanthus-leaf brackets is positioned over a 20th-century plank door, which is to the left of another 20th-century door (the hood above this door has been removed) that has a 20th-century porch. The windows have segmental arches and are all 20th-century, with two blind windows flanking a central terracotta date plaque above the door, inscribed with "M/AA/July. Y.30/1733". The eaves are dentilled brick, and there are two gabled roof dormers. At the rear, there is an 18th-century outshut that adjoins a one-bay wing, both constructed of limestone rubble.
