Description

Kingston Lisle House stables, located approximately 150 metres north of Kingston Lisle House, are a stable and coach-house built in the early 19th century. The structure features chalk ashlar limestone dressings, squared and coursed chalk, and Flemish bond brick at the rear, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has a central block flanked by a single-storey wing and is designed in the Tudor Revival style. It is 2.5 storeys high with a six-window range arranged as 2:2:2. The doors to the side wings are adjacent to the central block and feature limestone segmental arches with raised keys above rebated six-panelled double doors. There are label moulds over cavetto-moulded stone-mullioned two-light windows with arched heads, except for similar three-light windows on the ground floor of the central block. The original latticed leaded lights have been removed from the ground floor of the central and right blocks. A moulded stone architrave with a flat head is above the central loft doors, and there is a single-light window in a similar style at the top of the ridge of the central block, which has a gabled roof and a rear lateral stack.
