Description
This building, known as 12-14 Lechlade Road, is a block of three dwellings constructed in 1893 by architects Sir Ernest George and Alfred Yeates for Alexander Henderson of Buscot Park. It combines elements of Cotswold vernacular and collegiate Gothic styles. The structure is made of coursed rubble stone with stone dressings, featuring a gabled stone-tiled roof and stone stacks with moulded caps. It stands two storeys high and has a prominent gable facing the road, beneath which are side doors with Tudor arches. There is a gabled projection towards the green that resembles a college oriel. The building includes 3- and 4-light flat-headed mullioned windows with leaded casements, and ball finials adorn the gable ends. It is positioned at right angles to the road, forming the third side of a courtyard around the War Memorial green. This property, along with Nos 6 and 7 and Nos 8-11, is collectively known as Roadside Cottages.
