Description

The left gatepier at the entrance, located approximately 130 meters northeast of Betterton House, is likely from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a stone cornice and a ball finial. The pier is shaped and includes a half-circular niche topped with a stone shell-hood. Above the niche, there is a recessed square panel. This gatepier is one of a pair that is reputed to have originated from Temple Bar in London.
