Description
The Old Anchor Inn is a building that likely has a core dating back to the 17th century, with a red brick front added in the mid-19th century. It stands two storeys high and features a slate roof. The front has five windows arranged in a pattern of 1: 3: 1, with the central section slightly projecting. The windows have stone flat arches with keystones and are double-hung sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two similar windows and one six-light wooden mullion window in a moulded frame with a small cornice; this window has frosted glass and no glazing bars. There are also two similar doors, along with six fielded doors that have glazed ornamental fanlights, keystones, and impost bands. The building has a rendered plinth and a band between the storeys that features a carved name. It is topped with two tall chimneys at the corners and one central chimney. At the rear, there is rough rendered timber framing and gabled attics with 18th-century style windows. The Old Anchor Inn is part of a group that includes Nos. 1 to 4.
