Description
The Grange is a barn dating from the late 17th century to the mid 18th century, constructed from random limestone rubble and topped with an asbestos sheet roof. It features a four-bay plan, with double doors at the eaves height leading to the threshing floor and a blocked rear opening. The walls include ventilation slits and square ventilation holes. The barn has a gabled roof and an interior that showcases a four-bay collar-truss roof with side struts and butt purlins, which were taken from a timber-framed barn.
Attached to the left is a stable built in the late 18th century. This single-storey structure has a three-window range made of coursed limestone rubble, with brick quoins and dressings, and a gabled roof covered with 20th-century tiles. It features segmental brick arches and jambs for three 20th-century windows and two 20th-century doors, along with a five-bay post- and pad-truss roof. The barn and stable are included for their group value.
