Description

The right gatepier at the entrance, located approximately 130 metres northeast of Betterton House, is likely from the early 18th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a stone cornice topped with a ball finial. The pier has a shaped design with a half-circular niche that includes a stone shell-hood at the top. Above the niche, there is a recessed square panel. This gatepier is one of a pair, which are reputed to have originated from Temple Bar in London.
